Organization History   


Office of the University Council was established on July 5, 2008 under the Announcement of Chiang Mai University regarding Organization Establishment of Chiang Mai University as announced in the Royal Thai Government Gazette Volume 125, Special Issue 112 Ngor, on July 4, 2008.

   Office of the University Council is a Digital Office and a role model organization of good workplace culture    

 Mission Statement   


   Support the operations of Chiang Mai University Council and coordinate with the administration and all departments of Chiang Mai University by using the modern management    

   Authority and Duty   

Office of the University Council consists of three sections: General Administration Section, Policy and Evaluation Section and Risk Management Section.

The authority and duty of General Administration Section are as follows:
- Support an operation of Chiang Mai University Council according to the authority of University Council prescribed in Chiang Mai University Act, B.E. 2551 (2008).
- Act as secretary and coordinator for the meetings of University Council, committee and subcommittee that appointed by the University Council. It includes a support to committee, subcommittee or person that authorized from the University Council to perform tasks which are under the authority of University Council.
- Responsible for administrative tasks and general affairs of the University Council Office.
- Broadcast the information from the University Council to university officers, government sector, institute in public sector and general public.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to draft a rule, regulation and an announcement for the university.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by University Council.

The authority and duty of Policy and Evaluation Section are as follows:
- Support an operation of Chiang Mai University Council according to the authority of University Council prescribed in Chiang Mai University Act, B.E. 2551 (2008) for tasks related to policy and evaluation.
- Follow up a result or progress of action per the University Council resolution that assigned to university or department/faculty, and report a status to the University Council periodically as appropriate.
- Act as secretary of management evaluation committee.
- Follow up and evaluate a performance of each department/faculty as assigned by the University Council.
- Analyze information to support the consideration of University Council.
- Create an annual performance report of University Council.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by University Council.

The authority and duty of Risk Management Section are as follows:
- Support an operation of Chiang Mai University Council according to the authority of University Council prescribed in Chiang Mai University Act, B.E. 2551 (2008) for tasks related to risk management.
- Develop risk management work to be a significant operation of the university which covering all the university missions.
- Develop risk management system to be a standard and acceptable operation in preparing and monitoring the risk management plan of university and departments/faculties.
- Integrate the work of risk management and internal control together in order to prevent the possible damage to the university.
- Act as secretary of risk management and internal control committee to support and promote the management and all level of university staff to participate the risk management activities, including the knowledge transfer to all staffs.
- Promote the operation of risk management to be a normal operation.
- Follow up and evaluate a result of risk management continually.
- Use an Information Technology system as a tool to support the risk management of university and departments/faculties.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the University Council.
